EPIC Women’s GOlf LEague – Bylaws

 ARTICLE I: NAME

The name of the organization shall be EPIC Women’s Golf League  (18 holes).

ARTICLE II: PURPOSE

The purpose of the organization shall be to further the enjoyment of golf, stimulate sportsmanship, promote friendship and provide an incentive for better golf.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

Any woman who has an established handicap, pays the  EPIC Women’s Golf League annual dues and is 21 years of age or older is eligible for membership.

ARTICLE IV: DUES

 The amount of the dues shall be determined by the Board and shall be paid before participating in league play/events. The money from dues shall be used for expenses incurred by the league.

ARTICLE V: GOVERNING BODY

SECTION I:

The officers shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Current Past President; and these positions will comprise the executive committee.

SECTION II:

TheBoard shall be composed of seven or more active league members, including the executive commitee.   It is preferable that at least one representative is from each of the clubs that we regularly play.

ARTICLE VI: DUTIES OF OFFICERS

SECTION I:

The PRESIDENT shall preside at all meetings and have general supervision over the affairs of the League. She shall appoint, before the first Board Meeting of the year, any committees she deems necessary. Following her term of office, she shall be an ex-officio member of the Board for one year as the Current Past President.

SECTION II:

The VICE PRESIDENT, in the absence of the President, shall perform the duties of the President. She shall assist the President as needed and at the end of her term may succeed to the Presidency.

SECTION III:

The SECRETARY shall keep the minutes of all meetings and disperse, as needed, all pertinent information to the general membership.

SECTION IV:

The TREASURER shall receive and disburse all funds of the association and shall be responsible for keeping an accurate record of all transactions, keep a list of all paid members and provide reports to the board whenever transactions are made.

ARTICLE VII: DUTIES OF  COURSE REPRESENTATIVES AND SOCIAL/SPECIAL EVENTS  COMMITTEES

SECTION I:

The Course Representative shall be responsible for coordinating with her course and playing  members;  she shall also coordinate with the Social/Special Events Committee for those events held at her course.

SECTION II:

The Social/Special Events Committee shall be responsible for planning and executing all social outings or special events.  This includes coordinating with the applicable Course Representative.

ARTICLE VIII: BY-LAWS

SECTION I:

The President and Board will review and revise the bylaws as deemed necessary.  Changes to the by-laws require a 2/3 vote of the entire Board of Directors.   The Bylaws will be circulated by email and  posted at bgmemberservices.com.

 

SECTION II:

Proposed amendments must be provided to members of the Board at least 30 days in advance of the deadline for a vote.

 

ARTICLE IX: ELECTIONS

SECTION I:

The nominating committee shall consist of  the Current  President and the current Vice President and any other interested members who represent a cross section of the membership.  (One does not have to be a Board Member to be on the nominating committee.)

SECTION II:

The Board  will elect incoming Officers from the slate provided by the nominating committe.

SECTION IIINew Officers will be presented to the membership before the end of the calendar year.  Officers shall be elected for a one year period, January 1 to December 31.

SECTION IV:

It is the goal of the EPIC Women’s Golf League to encourage broad participation in leadership roles.  To that end, new Committee members and Members of the Board will be actively recruited, so that leadership remains vibrant and representative of the current membership.

SECTION V:

In the event of a vacancy in the unexpired term of any officer, the President shall appoint a successor,  with the approval of the Board.

 

ARTICLE X: MEETINGS

SECTION I:    The Board shall communicate regularly to the membership, and shall encourage input and involvement from the members.

SECTION II:

The Board will meet once a month, or as needed, at the discretion of the President.

SECTION III:

Four Board members at the meetings will constitute a quorum.

SECTION IV:

Special meetings may be called at any time by the President. A special meeting can also be called by any two members of the Board or by a 25% petition of the members.

ARTICLE XI:  RULES ESTABLISHMENT AND ENFORCEMENT

SECTION I:

The Board may establish and enforce any and all rules and regulations deemed advisable and necessary. The Board will address any issues relating to rules enforcement.
